VCU ASPiRE students work with community partners to address critical community needs. These community partnerships allow students to:
- Connect with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and schools.
- Address local, regional, national and international community issues.
- Gain real-world experience to prepare for life after college.
Who are VCU ASPiRE community partners?
VCU ASPiRE community partners are part of a growing network that connects VCU with community organizations to address community-identified needs. VCU ASPiRE community partners range from local to international and include nonprofit organizations, government agencies, school systems and other service and community organizations.
Community partners develop long-term, reciprocal relationships with VCU ASPiRE students. Students are trained to create community change through service, and they serve for multiple academic years. A VCU ASPiRE student is able to take on increasingly responsible volunteer roles to make a difference in the organizations they serve. Due to student schedule and transportation constraints, preference is given to community partners located within walking distance or no more than 15 minutes from VCU's campus by car.
